Psychological Testing
Psychological testing is a term used to refer to a broad array of evaluations - intelligence, academic, neuroppsychological and emotional plans that can provide essential information about a child or an adult. This information is useful for diagnosing and creating treatment plans, or for determining the most appropriate educational interventions.
Testing
Testing is appropriate when clinicians, parents, teachers or the person him/herself feels that something is not "quite right" with respect to development, academic performance, skills like attention or memory or even basic behavior. All psychological evaluations should be performed by a licensed clinical psychologist.
Some of the essential services we provide are:
- Neuropsychological testing for children administered by Nelson Dorta, PhD.
- General Psychological evaluations and psycho-educational assessments for children and adults administered by William Knack, PhD.
Dr. Dorta completed his PhD. in clinical child
psychology at the University of Buffalo and pursued his 2 year, post
doctoral training at Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School
in pediatric psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Dorta has lectured
nationally and published papers on diverse topics in pediatric
psychopathology and special education. His specialty is in development
syndromes (Autistic Spectrum), learning and attentional disorders (dyslexia,
ADHD), and certain neurological conditions (Tourette's Syndrome, Seizure
Disorders; Traumatic Brain Injury; Lyme's encephalopathy.)
Dr.Knack is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychological
testing for diagnosis and treatment planning and educational assessments.
Assessments include achievement testing, learning disability assessments,
and attention deficit (ADD/ADHD) evaluations. Dr.Knack's experience includes
many years of service conducting psychological evaluations in child
psychiatric treatment programs.
